Getting Back Into The Groove

Posted by Shades of Pink on January 3, 2008

I’m back! I haven’t posted much on here. Things got crazy at the end of the year. I needed to focus on some other things. It’s 2008! Happy New Year! I’m starting fresh and committing myself to exercise. I’m starting small. I’m starting with Yoga. I’m participating in WoYoPracMo. What on earth is that, you ask? It stands for World Yoga Practice Month. In January 2008, I will practice Yoga in some form and blog it. I figure it’s perfect for training for The 3 Day while the weather is bad.

So, I’m starting slow. I’m starting right now. I’m going to do a Yoga ab workout followed by Candlelight relaxation Yoga. I asked hubby to join me, but he’s zonked out on the couch. We’ll see if he wakes up. ;)

I’m eager to get back into the groove. :D The exercise will be good for me. I think my body went into shock when I quit dancing and it hasn’t recovered. This could explain the excessive migraines and chest pains. Some physical activity could definitely do me some good!

I will chronicle my Yoga on the WoYoPracMo page here. As well as my Yoga Blog.

Up Too Late!

Posted by Shades of Pink on November 13, 2007

I’ve been having such long nights lately I don’t know when I’ll have energy to exercise regularly. I have to start disciplining myself better, I think. I had planned on working tomorrow night, but I’ve been up late every night for the past week and it’s catching up with me. I see myself going to bed early…

Getting Back on Track

Posted by Shades of Pink on November 10, 2007

Last night I was able to do the elliptical for a bit. It felt great and I’m sure I’ll be on it today and tomorrow as well. If it’s not too cold I may even get a few miles of walking in!

Slacking

Posted by Shades of Pink on November 6, 2007

I’ve been really slacking on my exercising. I need to get back on the elliptical soon. I’m planning to be in Chicago this weekend–that should be a good way to get some walking distance in. If I don’t make my trip this weekend, I’ll definitely get the exercise in!

Posted by Shades of Pink on November 5, 2007

I’m going to be working the elliptical machine again this evening. My goal is 10 solid minutes without stopping. We’ll see how I hold up!

Big Workout

Posted by Shades of Pink on November 4, 2007

I’ve been lax in my walking the past couple of weeks. Today I sort of caught up. I did 10 minutes on the eliptical. Whew! I’m out of shape, but it felt great! I burned about 100 calories. Not sure the distance I ran. I’m going to work my way up to 20 minutes this week. I want to get back into shape–no need to collapse on the big walk!

Walk Number Two

Posted by Shades of Pink on October 21, 2007

Today I had my second walk. This time Mom and I started from her house and walked to the park. The trail at the park is about 1.5 miles and the walk from the house is about 1.5 miles or so. I’d say we walked about 3 miles. Not a bad start. I should be able to work my way to 20 miles by next August for sure! It felt great. :)

First Walk!

Posted by Shades of Pink on October 14, 2007

Today I took my first steps in conditioning for the 60-mile walk! My mom and I walked at the park about 1.5 miles. It felt great! This time we drove to the park and walked the trail. Next time, we are going to start from Mom’s house, walk to the park, walk the trail, and walk back home. That should total 3-4 miles. I look forward to it! Next, I will start Pilates and yoga on a daily basis. I also plan to take advantage of my parents’ eliptical machine. I want to be able to walk the walk! My husband says raising the money will be no problem, but he thinks there is no way I can walk 60 miles in 3 days. I’ll show him!
