The Breast Cancer 3 Day is an annual charity event that supports Susan G. Komen for the Cure. The walk is 60 miles long and there are several locations throughout the United States. Walkers will camp in tents each night and walk approximately 20 miles each day.

Participants pay a $90 registration fee and receive an information packet, walking badge, stickers to mark achievements on the badge, and other materials necessary for walk preparation. There are local meetings as well as conference calls available for motivation and fund-raising ideas. There are also several training walks available for walkers to begin conditioning their bodies for the long walk!

Sadly, not everyone who registers can walk. In order to walk, a participant must raise a minimum of $2200 for the cause. This is why I’m getting started early this time around! In 2007, I registered in February and barely raised 10% of the required funds. In 2008 I’m going to be much more prepared! I am going to start a team.
